How to Reach Learning Success in 2018
At the risk of looking like I do nothing but attend conferences..! I’m keen to share my takeaways from the Learning Success Blueprint Conference last week which was brought to us by the ILP (Institute of Learning Professionals).
It was a very unique conference and brilliant few days. Interestingly it’s quite different from many other conferences in the Learning & Development sphere – it’s less about the learning and more about how we as individuals within the profession can develop, and what we need to take learning to the next level.
Watch my quick video wrap up of the conference here:
I’ve also summarised my key takeaways below if you’d prefer to have a quick read rather than watch the video –
- It was really quite a different few days – focusing on how learning professionals can learn and grow as individuals
- As a business owner I learnt a lot from David Le Sueuer who was talking about leveraging your business and how you connect from your client.
- Sally Foley-Lewis opened the conference with a focus on getting everyone to connect – the networking has been fantastic!
- Gabby Button ran a great session about contracts & negotiations
- We had a fantastic session on a whole bunch of practical easy to use tech tools from Hetas Pandya, Nigel Wilson, and Matthew Mason. Some of the innovative new tools uncovered were:
- Kahoot Quizzes – “make learning awesome!”
- Nawmal – animation software
- Virtual speech – an amazing tool that’s going to help us practice our sessions
- One Tab – converts all your browser tabs into a easy to read list
- One final takeaway was a focus on solutions not services. This really struck a chord with me – we want to provide you with a solution to the problem of creating behavioural change from learning.
An amazing few days – really looking forward to all the great collaborations that will come out of this conference.
I was a little absent from Twitter at the conference but there were of course heaps of committed Tweeters using the hashtag #learningsuccess2018 – you can check out more news from the conference there.
Right… time for a conference detox!
