Giving in Collaboration: a feel good post

At Lever – Transfer of Learning we are passionate about helping people get the most from their learning opportunities and we like to stretch our reach beyond our own enterprise.

We love that we are able to collaborate with organisations who are making a truly inspired difference around the world through learning.

Supporting Global Learning

Children in the world’s poorest countries, especially girls, often face daunting barriers to education.

CARE Australia

CARE are a leading humanitarian organisation fighting global poverty by improving basic education, health and sanitation around the world. They believe that supporting women and girls is one of the most effective ways to create sustainable outcomes in poor communities. Equipped with the right resources, women and girls don’t just lift themselves out of poverty, they change their families, communities and society for the better, breaking poverty cycles.

We are delighted to support CARE on their mission to banish poverty through education. Every time a participant completes a Turning Learning into Action™ (TLA) session as scheduled (i.e. at the time and date agreed at the learning event) we donate funds to CARE, sending a girl in poverty to school. Working with CARE we are driving learning around the world by giving children the means to turn up to school.

Learning Development Kenya

We are also proud to support Philip Ndeta and the work that he is doing at LDK in Kenya.

Like CARE, LDK are focused on providing children in very poor communities (especially girls) with quality education. For over a decade, they have been working tirelessly to equip the most vulnerable Kenyans with the tools they need to succeed to try and break the poverty cycle. Currently they support over 400 needy children in nursery, primary and secondary schools. They also support 78 orphans – who live in a center next door to the school with shelter, food, and medical care.

And that’s not all! Up to 5,000 people from the surrounding community benefit from LDK’s HIV/AIDS awareness education, medical support, and microfinance programs. Their successful microfinance program has impacted thousands of families, and many of those individuals now have the means to generate a sustainable income.

However, recently they have been facing some challenges in an attempt to turn the school to a self-sustaining project. One initiative as part of this is to acquire a new 30-seater mini bus for the school. A new one costs about US$40,000 including government duty and other taxes. Support LDK’s mission to eliminate poverty by donating towards their much needed new school bus – click here to donate through the PayPal button on their website.

“Some 171 million people could be lifted out of poverty – if all students in low income countries acquired basic reading skills” – CARE Australia

Well done to Philip and the team at Learning Development Kenya, and all our friends at CARE Australia for their tireless efforts. We salute you! Thanks for helping us feel good by helping others.
