Key Highlights from ATD ICE 2017

Greetings from the USA! Last week saw another amazing International Conference & Expo from the ATD (Association of Talent Development) in Atlanta.

I will of course be sharing a webinar with the top highlights from ATD 2017 when I get back to Australia – register here!

The keynote speakers were life lessons from astronauts Mark and Scott KellyKelly McGonigal talking about positive stress, and my absolute favourite Dr Ronan Tynan sharing his songs and life story highlighting the power of resilience and reinvention. His closing session had the audience in tears of laughter and hope. In the back row of the auditorium we were in pieces! There have been many other fascinating speakers and my key learnings from the event have been around machine learning, adaptive learning and analytics.

There was much more talk around learning transfer and behavioural change this year which has been great to see. Michael Kim led a fantastic session on changing habits. It was interesting to see that chatbots are a key trend coming through for learning transfer.

One thing was clear from the conference, with the way the world is changing, learning will need to play a key role in supporting people to keep learning and changing in this ever changing world.
